Jane Pattenden

Hi I’m Jane and you will see me popping up from time to time whenever cover is required. I have been in the fitness industry since 1991 when I first completed my exercise to music qualification and then that was pretty much all there was in terms of group exercise. How times change! I have always been interested in exercise; my family are a passionate rugby playing family so I was taken all over the south east watching club games.

At school I was a keen hockey player to county standard and a county athlete – sprinting and long jump were my main events but I would turn my hand to most stuff (just don’t ask me to throw!) I am now involved in karate. I joined as a mature student, kept working and achieved my black belt three years ago. I was lucky enough to train in Japan and meet my grand master, who is returning to the UK this year which is very exciting.

I also am an assistant instructor with the under eights and who knows maybe my own dojo soon. I try to keep myself active which isn’t too hard with two children and a hairy hound to walk every day. I try to run at least twice a week and completed my first half marathon earlier this year and looking forward to another one in July. You can’t beat the feeling of being fit and healthy – this is the reason why I lead classes and I can’t see myself doing anything else.
